JMC Lutherie Launches a Special Series of Exceptional Guitars

A guitar is much more than just an instrument. It is a tool of expression. It speaks the language of the artist; music, sound that has a deeper meaning. JMC Lutherie reveals that a special series of exceptional guitars signed by Jeanmichel Capt, named LP Folk Guitar, is being manufactured at this current time and will be available before the end of this year. Everything has been done to support and enhance the inspiration of the musician while playing this guitar.

Jeanmichel Capt, music al instrument builder, inventor and artist, inscribed a part of himself. Inspired by a Zen attitude, he gives a meaning to each of his choices, and every single action. He is driven by the intention of transferring his expertise. This guitar is the crux of this knowledge being an alchemical mixture of the fragments of existence.

Lorenzo Pellegrini, the tree gatherer, knew exactly how to select the perfect resonance spruce out of ten thousand. Lorenzo Pellegrini and his incredible pace, shaped, crafted, sculpted, and was even transmuted by his mission, by his forest. Always in harmony with the vibrations, in subtle cooperation with magic wood. As an old tree shaped by the elements, Lorenzo Pellegrini is magnificent! He accepts his signs of life with simplicity, authenticity, and that makes it beautiful, respectable. In his honour, the rose of the guitar is adorned with the silhouette of an ancient tree, twisted and shaped by life. Like the Vitruvian Man, he embraced the pentagram: simply perfect.

The first LP Folk guitars by JMC Lutherie will be available by the end of this year.

JMC Lutherie transforms sound into music

Sound and music: what a difference it makes. On a normal day, we hear different sounds coming from everywhere. Unfortunately, we rarely get to experience music in the best possible. Jeanmichel Capt, luthier and Co-Founder of JMC Lutherie, successfully took on the challenge to transform sound into music by creating the JMC Soundboard, the JMC Nomade and the JMC Acoustic Docking Station. They are all true authentic musical instruments giving a more enjoyable way of listening.

The metallic sound coming from smartphones and other mobile devices or the calculated mastered loudspeakers are considered as music, but why it isn’t possible to create a more natural and emotional listening experience. How to turn this into music, was the question Jeanmichel Capt asked himself. He achieved this by associating 350 year-old resonance spruce, authentic lutherie or string instrument building techniques and contemporary audio technology. The result is amazing: truly exceptional loudspeakers that provide an unforgettable and unique experience.

As the music is literally played on an authentic musical instrument, the perception of the instruments and voices gives the listeners an impression that the musicians are actually in the same room. While with traditional loudspeakers several sources are used to create the listening experience, only the membrane of this single stereophonic JMC Soundboard has the capability to convey the three-dimensional nature of music.

‘The JMC Soundboard offers a free, authentic and revitalizing experience’, says Céline Renaud, Co-Founder and CEO of JMC Lutherie. ‘When listening to music using multiple sources, our brain needs to reassemble the output and calculate. Although we are used to this, it fatigues us, even unconsciously. This process doesn’t happen with the JMC Soundboard. Good quality speakers can be transparent, but they simply cannot create a live music experience as the tonewood does.’

‘The wood coming for the Risoud Forest is like gold for us’, stated Jeanmichel Capt. ‘Listening to the JMC Soundboard, JMC Nomade or JMC Acoustic Docking Station is enjoying music played on a musical instrument made out of tonewood that’s 350 years old is an emotional experience. The resonance spruce is the heart of the tree that speaks to the human soul.’

JMC Lutherie expands its activities to six European countries

The JMC Soundboard is now available in France, Germany, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium and Luxemburg.

JMC Lutherie is pleased to announce the expansion of its sales network to six European countries: France, Germany Netherlands, Austria, Belgium and Luxemburg. Music lover are now able to obtain JMC Lutherie’s creations like the JMC Soundboard, the loudspeaker made out of tonewood, as well as the JMC Nomade and the JMC Acoustic Docking Station through several stores in these countries. The company based in the Vallée de Joux started this internationalization process last year, when it found an agreement with distributor JB House in Hong Kong.

‘After the consolidation of our Swiss network with almost 40 retailers representing our brand, we worked expanding internationally’, JMC Lutherie’s CEO Céline Renaud stated. ‘After opening Hong Kong to cover South East Asia, we are now represented in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Dornbirn, Austria. France, Belgium and Luxemburg will follow by the end of April, together with Germany. When this process has been terminated, we will focus on Italy and the Nordic Countries, as well as the USA.’

Piano Services Bart Boogaard in Amsterdam, Netherlands is now fully equipped with the JMC Lutherie objects. Located in the city center of the Dutch capital, it is a unique place for the creation of the lutherie of the 21st century. To present the JMC Soundboard, ‘Sound Tastings’ are scheduled in Netherlands on 21, 22 and 24 May 2016.

In France, JMC Lutherie partnered with L’AudioDistribution, a company specialized in high quality audio brands for almost 40 years. This distributor will also represent JMC Lutherie in Belgium and Luxemburg. JMC Lutherie appointed Kreil in Dornbirn as the first retailer in Austria earlier this year.

The network expansion comes at the same time with the next production stage of the JMC Nomade, released at the end of 2015. This portable Bluetooth loudspeaker is created as a musical instrument and associates the best of the traditional lutherie techniques and the modern technology. The new series of JMC Nomade, an independent battery operated sound system, is available now and perfectly reflects the brand philosophy of JMC Lutherie: transforming sound into music.

Sol Gabetta: ‘JMC Lutherie reinvented the way of listening to music’

JMC Lutherie recently nominated the famous musician Sol Gabetta as its new ambassador. The cellist partners with the Swiss company that transforms sound into music through the JMC Soundboard and the other products created with the art of the 21st century Lutherie techniques.  ‘With the JMC Soundboard, JMC Lutherie reinvented the way of listening to music’, is the reaction of Sol Gabetta.

Sol Gabetta first experienced the JMC Soundboard on the occasion of one of her performances at the famous Menuhin Festival in Gstaad. She was introduced to the loudspeaker made out of tonewood by JMC Lutherie’s CEO and Founder Céline Renaud, when she participated in a private ‘Sound Tasting’. ‘Listening to the JMC Soundboard performing my favorite music is an extremely emotional experience’, was Sol Gabetta’s comment.

And emotion plays a key role in the life of the 34-years old cellist who performs on the best-known classical music scenes all around the world. Music is emotion, or even more precise, music equals emotion, according to Sol Gabetta. It is therefore no surprise that she is extremely driven when she speaks about music, her passion.

‘Music and emotion speak the same language’, says Sol Gabetta. ‘Without emotion sound or noise will never turn into music. Nowadays people take music, sound or noise in the wrong perception, especially because it is everywhere. People say quickly that a singing bird makes noise, but it is actually music.’

‘Music is like reading a book’, continues Sol Gabetta. ‘You need some tools to understand it, and you need to hear it over and over again to extract more details every time you hear it. Music can therefore be very complex and complicated, and you need to have some sensibility to completely explore it.’

Speaking about the JMC Soundboard, the flagship product of JMC Lutherie, Sol Gabetta is very enthusiastic. ‘It is amazing to see that someone is able to develop a loudspeaker with just a piece of wood and creates a natural element that transforms sound into music. This is an idealistic and futurist idea that changes the way of listening to music. The 70’s and 80’s were the years where technology improved. Now we are in the era that people go back to the source and the nature.’

‘I have more contact with wood than with people, as I play my cello hours and hours every day’, jokes Sol Gabetta. ‘Wood is a living element and I find it magical how a piece of wood can perform music in such an emotional way as the JMC Soundboard does. I love the philosophy of JMC Lutherie, turning sound into music. It adds emotion to what you are listening, thanks to the idealistic ideas of JMC Lutherie.’
